About this product

What it is made of

Moulded PVC, painted to distinguish structures. PVC is the standard for teaching models because it takes fine moulded detail and survives being handled by people who are learning. A plaster or resin model of this size chips at the bronchi within a term, and the bronchi are the part everybody points at.

How it works

The model stands on its own base and can be handled, turned and pointed at without disassembly. It needs no batteries and has no moving parts, which makes it usable in a room with no power outlet and reliable in one with twenty students.

Where it earns its place

  • Close to life size, which is itself the first thing it teaches
  • PVC survives repeated handling where plaster and resin chip
  • No batteries, no power, no assembly
  • Painted to distinguish structures rather than moulded in one colour
